Fully understanding the genetic profile of patient samples can assist researchers in identifying novel therapeutic targets, identifying patient samples expressing your protein of interest, correlating drug sensitivity to a given genetic background or identifying signatures between normal and diseased tissues. The Conversant Bio team is able to reliably carry-out most genetic studies using our carefully collected and processed human primary biospecimens. Nucleic acids extracted from either primary cells or tissues undergo stringent quality controls.

Diseased specimens obtained from patients contain a heterogeneous mixture of cells. This cellular heterogeneity, thought to be critical for tumor growth, is observed in human primary xenograft models of cancer, but not in xenograft models using established cell lines. Evaluating the effects of test agents on human primary xenograft models may more closely mimic conditions found within the patient's tumor. Let Conversant Bio's In Vivo Validation Group identify which human specimens best engraft and expand within mice. Conversant Bio will provide you with fresh or cryopreserved human cells and/or tissues that have been minimally passaged in mice.

The use of primary cells allows researchers to evaluate the effects of agents on cells that more closely resemble the natural state compared to traditional testing on cell lines that are highly passaged, rarely resemble the original patient specimen due to clonal selection (expansion), and are sometimes artificially immortalized. The Conversant Bio In Vitro Testing Group is able to evaluate the efficacy of your de-identified agents on our large selection of Hyper-Annotated human primary specimens. Both normal and diseased primary cells, whether mixed or isolated populations, can be evaluated in 2D (plastic, coated or trans-well plates) or 3D (embedded in extra-cellular matrix or grown as tumor spheres) assays. Our experienced team will carefully measure readouts of interest such as viability, proliferation, cytokine/growth factor release and pathway signaling.

At Conversant Bio, our team can provide you with such samples in a variety of formats; fresh, cryopreserved, or even plated on your desired plate type. 

The Conversant Bio team can plate freshly dissociated solid tumor cells into desired assay conditions immediately after the tumor is processed into single cells. This approach is beneficial for assays that require the use of fresh cells (i.e., non-cryopreserved) and for clients wanting to minimize the time between tissue processing and placement into the desired assay conditions. These freshly plated cells can be evaluated by our In Vitro Testing Groupor shipped to by the same day.

Thousands of patient serum samples can be easily and simultaneously evaluated on our custom serum microarrays. These arrays are ideal for identification/verification of biomarkers or the development of diagnostic and prognostic assays. You select what samples are included in your custom microarray and the microarray format (whole serum, abundant protein depleted serum, or antibody-only).
