Tissue Products

At Conversant Bio, we offer processed and whole tissue from blood cancer and solid tumor patients. Conversant Bio can target virtually any disease, stage or grade and provide detailed patient annotation, such as age, race, gender, pathology reports, known mutation statuses, and more. Tissue can be frozen, formalin-fixed & paraffin embedded (FFPE), dissociated into single cells, or simply shipped fresh. To learn more about our individual tissue products browse the items below.

Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin Embedded (FFPE)

Formalin-Fixed, Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) tissues are critical to successful biomedical research.  Finding high quality tissue samples with regulatory documentation is difficult.  Your success depends on finding a partner you can trust.

Conversant Bio's FFPE tissue bank is designed to meet your quality needs.  Comprised of samples specifically selected to aid in discovery, validation and controls of both antibody and molecular testing our repository can help you deliver on your project.

Last year alone, Conversant Bio helped 200 companies with over 650 FFPE projects.  Click the links below to download inventory reports by indication.

Tissue Microarrays (TMAs)

A standalone block that can test multiple patient cases at once depending on the core and block size. Multiple non-viable tissue cores are embedded in paraffin and arranged for histological analysis. Slides and whole blocks available.

 Flash Frozen

These non-viable tumors are flash frozen in liquid nitrogen immediately post surgical resection and stored at -150C.

Key Applications:

  • biomarker identification/ validation
  • genetic studies
  • visualization of tissue structure

 Fresh Tissue

Fresh tumor piece, shipped the same day of surgical resection for overnight delivery, is available from various patients. The tumor piece is quickly placed in a 4C hypothermosol solution within 30 minutes of surgical resection to maximize tissue viability and minimize cellular shock. Most tumor pieces remain viable for >3 days under our established conditions.

Key Applications:

  • drug testing and drug target discovery
  • biomarker identification/ validation
  • genetic studies
  • visualization of tissue structure
  • cell isolation studies
  • cancer stem cells

 Dissociated Tumor Cells (DTCs)

Cells from solid tumors are obtained using CBio's optimized tissue dissociation protocols involving both mechanical and enzymatic approaches. This process aims to retain the complex mixture of cell populations (epithelial, endothelial, hematopoietic, fibroblast) normally found within tumors. These dissociated tumor cells are immediately cryopreserved in an animal protein free media containing 10% DMSO. The percentage of viable cells is typically >50% post thaw, although there is variability between tumor samples. Our tissue dissociation protocols balance maintaining cell viability with preservation of cell-surface markers important for research.

Key Applications:

  • drug testing and drug target discovery
  • biomarker identification/ validation
  • genetic studies
  • visualization of tissue structure
  • cell isolation studies
  • cancer stem cells

 The Conversant Bio Advantage

Quality Controlled: Samples are sourced from an extensive U.S. based sourcing network.  Licensed pathologists review each block to ensure correct diagnosis, proper fixation, and confirm the tissue and tumor size.

Hyper-Annotated: The pathology report and demographic details provided with each sample helps you target the correct clinical profile.  Genetic profile information is available for the 10 most common oncogenes, accelerating your study and allowing you to focus on drug targets of interest.

Site Development: Conversant Bio has a dedicated site development network committed to bringing on Conversant Bio exclusive sites.  Our commitment to increasing our site network means we are dedicated to maintaining an inventory level that will meet your needs and to ensuring patients are not duplicated across vendors.

Glad to Be Here:  Conversant Bio has an educated and responsive sales team because we believe that a reliable sourcing partner is essential to groundbreaking research and drug discovery.  Our team is available to help you find samples to match your specific project’s parameters.
